Cranborne CE VA First School is a Voluntary Aided Church of England First School, founded in 1828, originally for the education of all children from 5 years until they left school at 14 or earlier.
An extract from the earliest Log Book in July 1863 states:-
Summary of the Report of her Majesty's Inspector on this school.
"Discipline and order good. I am much pleased with the general improvement throughout the school during the past year. More grammar might be taught with advantage.

Classroom 1 includes a Key Stage 1 library, well-stocked with books and other resources. A newly erected pergola outside the Foundation Stage class provides a sheltered area to enable children to learn by working on a larger more active scale than is possible indoors.

The new Hall is used for daily Collective Worship, creative and expressive arts, group teaching and parents' meetings. Two of the classrooms have balcony areas, which are used to extend the teaching area, provide accommodation for Key Stage 2 libraries and give access to adjoining resources rooms. There is an attractive reception area/school office, with a Headteachers Office and Staff Room upstairs.
